My Greek Yogurt Ranch Dip is undeniably delicious and I’m so excited to share it with you!
This recipe was born out of love (and a little necessity). My husband is a major ranch enthusiast, and I was determined to steer him away from the bottled stuff. And guess what? He’s fully on board with my homemade version—and so is everyone else who tries it, including the kids. We’ve honestly never looked back!

But this ranch isn’t just for salads. It’s a perfect dipping sauce for chicken cutlets, tenders, or nuggets. It’s extra creamy and tangy, which also makes it an amazing spread for sandwiches, wraps, and burgers. And as an added bonus? It’s made with Greek yogurt, so it’s packed with protein, too.

Store it in a covered jar in the fridge for up to a week—though in our house, it rarely lasts that long. I’m telling you, this one’s a total crowd-pleaser.

😍 Why You’ll Love My Greek Yogurt Ranch

I mean, who doesn’t love ranch?!
I love this recipe because it’s a fresh, healthy, protein-packed version of a classic that my whole family is fully on board with. The bottled stuff that sits on shelves for years? Not what I want to be serving at my table.

This homemade ranch is quick, easy, and chances are—you already have most of the spices in your drawer. Whip it up in minutes for a crudité platter, chicken wings, or anything that needs a little dipping love. Once you try it, I promise: you won’t go back.

An assortment of small white bowls on a light surface, each containing ingredients for a creamy veggie dip—sour cream, mayonnaise, dried herbs, spices, and a clear liquid—arranged neatly as if prepping homemade ranch dressing.

🗒️ Ingredients

Greek Yogurt – The creamy, protein-packed base of this dressing. It gives the ranch its tang and a lighter, healthier profile compared to sour cream.

Mayonnaise – Adds richness and that classic ranch creaminess. It balances the tanginess of the yogurt for a smooth texture.

White Vinegar – Brings a subtle acidity that brightens the flavors and adds that signature tang you expect from ranch.

Sugar – Just a touch of sweetness to balance the acidity and spices, making the flavors well-rounded.

Onion Powder – Provides a mellow, savory depth that forms one of the classic ranch flavor notes.

Garlic Powder – Adds a warm, aromatic punch that complements the onion powder and dried herbs.

Dried Dill – A must-have in ranch, bringing a fresh, slightly grassy note that defines its signature taste.

Dried Parsley – Adds an earthy, herbaceous flavor and those classic green flecks for visual appeal.

Dried Chives – Lends a subtle onion-like sharpness that rounds out the herb blend.

🎩 Tips and Tricks

  • Use a high-speed immersion blender to get an ultra-smooth consistency.  I love my XTEND Hand Blender from Zwilling.
  • Add an extra tablespoon or two of water if you think it looks too thick.  Blend for another couple seconds.
  • Let the dressing sit for a few hours before serving if you want the flavors to deepen.

🤲 Substitutions

Greek Yogurt: you can use dairy free yogurt ( like coconut or almond based- just make sure they are unsweetened.  If you do happen to be looking for something dairy-free, please try my separate Dairy Free Ranch recipe. You can also use Skyr, which is Icelandic yogurt which is similar in texture.

Mayonnaise: You can use Dairy Free mayo.  You can also use mashed Avocado for a healthy fat alternative.

White Vinegar: Lemon juice, Apple Cider Vinegar, or Rice Vinegar are all good substitutions.

Dried Herbs:  For any of the dried herbs in the recipe you can substitute with fresh herbs if you don’t have on hand.  I would double the amount as the dried will be more flavorful.  Just keep testing as you adjust to your liking.

🧠 Common Questions

Can I make it without mayonnaise?

Definitely. You can use all Greek yogurt for a lighter version. It will be a bit tangier and less rich, but still delicious!

How long does it last in the fridge?

Store it in a sealed container or jar in the fridge for up to 1 week. Give it a stir or shake before serving.

Can I use fresh herbs instead of dried?

Yes! Fresh herbs are a great upgrade. Use 2-3x the amount (e.g., 2 teaspoons dried = approx. 2 tablespoons fresh). Just note that fresh herbs may reduce the shelf life slightly.

Is this dressing gluten-free?

Yes! As long as your mayo and spices are certified gluten-free, the dressing is naturally gluten-free.

What kind of Greek yogurt works best?

Use plain, full-fat or 2% Greek yogurt for the best flavor and creaminess. Nonfat works too, but the texture and richness will be lighter.
